Illini Live Blogging - Random Thoughts Edition

*A great start defending against the run...how do you add sarcasm tag again?

*Brian Hartline with a drop on third down. I bet this isn't how he expected his fourth season to go down.

*Tyler Moeller causes a fumble and the resurgent Nader Abdallah recovers, giving Ohio State awesome field position.

*Terrelle Pryor glides in after Beanie does the heavy lifting...7-0 Bucks.

*Wow. The Buckeye run defense get absolutely gashed down the field. It's hard to feel confident that this defense could stop an elite, BCS bowl caliber offense.

*Fantastic catch by Ohio product Jeff Cumberland in the endzone to tie things up, 7-7.

*Why does it seem like Dane Sanzenbacher gets whacked harder than any other player on the Buckeyes?

*Abdallah is playing out his mind...what a gigantic leap forward for the senior. He made a great lateral stop and then batted down a third down pass. Kudos to the big fellow.

*Malcolm Jenkins blocks another punt into the end zone for a safety. I've said it before, but of all the guys that came back, he's the one that has really performed at a consistently high level. Illinois is trying to give it away, 9-7 Buckeyes.

*ESPN cuts away to a Notre Dame highlight featuring Charlie Weis, and I've lost my appetite.

*An end around to Brian Hartline, who gets popped at the end for his trouble. Umm, I *love* Hartline, but we don't have anyone faster for that one? Lamaar Thomas?

*Beanie punches it in (sort of) on a sweep as the Bucks go up 16-7.

*Juice goes to the no-huddle and marches down the field, until Moeller pressure him into a bad throw. Kurt Coleman picks it off, runs in slow motion, and then fumbles.

*Beanie bouncing off and carrying tacklers, and Pryor sweeping through the secondary on a draw. That's a snapshot of the OSU offense working well.

*Pryor finds Sanzenbacher in the flat for a TD as the Buckeyes extend their lead to 23-7.

*Two Illinois FG's bring the Fighting Zookers within 10 at the half. Not a strong finish for the Buckeyes, who couldn't move the ball on their last possession or run out the clock.

*Halftime. Sure God had Mark May in mind when he invented the mute button.

*A promising drive ended by a Wells fumble. He had been flirting with it all day, losing the ball a number of times as he hit the turf.

*Buckeyes pinned at their own one yard line. They avoid anything disasterous but can't get a first down, giving Illinois great field position. Great tackle by Shaun Lane on the punt return.

*What's this, pressure D? Ross Homan sacks Juice and then Cam Heyward pressure Williams on third down. A strong series for the Buckeye defense.

*Wells breaks away for nice run but comes up a bit lame. Story of the season, and you have to wonder what it will take to keep this kid healthy when he moves to the next level.

*Crazy Pryor as Pryor does his Houdini act and zip a pass downfield. Boom Herron, not the intended receiver, tip the pass. It falls incomplete, but a boneheaded Illinois player delivers a late hit on - you guess it - Dane Sanzenbacher. First down Buckeyes.

*After a fairly uninspiring performance thus far, Boom shoots the gap and stretches for the end zone. The touchdown puts OSU up, 30-13.

*Ohio State has the ball back and is in Jim Tressel's comfort zone - the mind numbing, conservative running game designed to wind the clock down. How many plays in a row can Boom Herron lose yardage?

*Another wild play...Herron is down..or fumbles...Illinois recovers and laterals...Pryor draws a 15 yarder for a questionable facemask...but the fumble is overruled by review. It was really close, but the reversal effectively killed the slim chance had for a big comeback.

*Illinois scores a garbage time TD as the officials refuse to call a holding call the whole drive. Buckeyes win, 30-20. Bring on Michigan!!!
