Turner Joins Wolverines

Our Michigan Man is currently MIA - he may be one of the eleven people left on the planet who care about the NBA, or he may just be waiting for his two-star freshman to show up the fall to run The Rod's system. Either way, I thought I'd add some good news for beleaguered Wolverine fans. Justin Turner, one of the top players in the state of Ohio for 2009, offered his verbal to Michigan staff.

Turner is a safety that plays for Massillon Washington, and is definitely an elite national prospect. More importantly, he was actually someone the Buckeyes wanted. Turner grew up a Wolverine fan, and it seemed like he would be a quick commit to his childhood team, much like Mario Manningham. However, the Buckeyes thought they had a shot when UM went through a coaching and system change. Turner's father remained in the Michigan camp, while his Mom favored Ohio State. In the end, Dad won out.

Turner is the first Ohio recruit offered by Jim Tressel that committed to Michigan. Those who stay...will go 0-4. ;)
