Carter Legacy Lives On

Of all the great talent that came out of the Ohio State in the past 25 years, perhaps no players enjoyed a better NFL career than Cris Carter. The man who only caught touchdowns is still a big draw in Columbus, but his son is prepared take the spotlight for the next four years. Duron Carter, a 6'3" WR from St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida, announced his commitment today for Ohio State.

Carter had offers from LSU, West Virginia, Auburn and interest from a number of other top programs. His pedigree is undeniable, and he is rated as a 4-star on Scout.com and a 3-star on Rivals.com. His evaluation from the scouts and other recruitniks is somewhat even though. Some peg him a future star, who shows off silky-smooth moves, great hands, body control and understanding of the game. Others see the 4.66 40 time, and think that Carter will be more likely be a good - but perhaps not great - player after a few years of work. Though we'll have to wait to see who is ultimately right, Buckeyes are certainly happy he stayed in the family.

Carter becomes the third WR in the Buckeyes 2009 class, joining Chris Fields and James Jackson. This more than likely finishes the receiver class, and puts the total at 18. That means there's probably just 9 spots left and we're still in June. That number is probably going to shrink over the next few days, as OSU is expecting to gather at least a couple more commits.
