Vern! Gholston Torches the NFL Combine

We can't hold a grudge against Gholston for leaving for the NFL, though he was the only junior not to return. After Monday's workout, it looks like his decision will definitely pay off. Gholston had an incredible day, running a 4.61 40 and doing 37 reps of the 225 bench. He also topped the more heralded Chris Long in a number of areas, including broad jump, vertical jump and 10 yard split.

Lots of positive press for Vern...

A top ten spot locked up?

Position flexibility increases value

Jake Long is still bitter he got toasted

A depressing scenario - don't go, Vern

Buckeyes Add Another Top Ohio Prospect

Ohio State continued its recruiting blitz, adding another elite in-state player to its rapidly expanding 2009 class. The latest addition is Jamie Wood a safety from Pickerington Central. Wood wasn't planning to make an early commitment, but offered his verbal to Coach Tressel after this weekend's junior day.

Wood told reporters that he "loved the Buckeyes" since the day he was born, and didn't want to pass on this opportunity. He received early offers from Penn State, Illinois, and Stanford, as well as interest from many other national programs. Though he projects as a defnesive back at this point, Wood has the athleticism to possibly switch to receiver.
